South Dakota Conference, UCCThe South Dakota Conference of the United Church of Christ is a spirited and devoted collection of 70+ churches who exist in theological covenant and autonomous governance. Check out our UCC belief statements here. In 2018, our SD Conference joined with the Nebraska and Iowa Conferences of the UCC to share leadership and staff, creating a Tri-Conference ministry team, meet them here! Together, we engage in acts of service (like collecting these plastic bags to repurpose as sleeping mats), joint annual meetings, worship, continuing education, youth events, and developing innovative ministries.

Placerville CampPlacerville holds a special place in the hearts of many who attend this Black Hills spiritual oasis. Camp Director Kerry Steever, along with his wife Sharla, daughter Kylie, and son Ben have been in ministry hosting campers for 20+ years! It's our cherished summer camp destination in the UCC, and we're grateful to have the opportunity to meet God amongst the trees and hills and canyon creek each season.
You can find specific information about the upcoming camping season here; This year all registration happens online, with a deposit expected along with sign-up. |
National UCC SettingOur SD Conference of the UCC is one of several regional conferences that organize our local UCC churches in purpose and mission alongside the National UCC setting. Our Tri-Conference website holds plenty of information about our UCC identity, an especially good resource for those who are new to our denomination. Our local UCC congregation is in covenantal relationship with the National UCC setting, which means we vow to hold sacred conversations about important gospel work, even when we disagree about how best to implement Christ's command to love God and love our neighbor as ourselves.
Purpose Statement (from the Gospel of Matthew): To love God with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength and our neighbor as ourselves. Vision Statement: United in Christ’s love, a just world for all. Mission statement: United in Spirit and inspired by God’s grace, we welcome all, love all, and seek justice for all. |
